This chapter will provide an overview of the dynamics of domestic violence and the emotional and behavioral effects on victims. The effect of trauma on adult and child victims of domestic violence and victim survival strategies will also be explored. The socio-ecological model of domestic violence will be explained, as well as the public health approach for interventions for domestic violence. 最后, trauma-informed judicial approaches will be introduced.

This chapter will describe the factors that contribute to whether a victim of domestic violence can successfully and safely leave an abusive relationship. This chapter will also examine why victims may not feel safe being involved in the justice system.
